About Me

Originally the term Architect meant Master Builder. Architects originally were the builders and designers, gradually the profession became compartmentalized and specialized as building became more complicated. My career has been divided into working as an Architect and working as a builder and craftsman. I find myself driven to not only design, but to create. As a craftsman I receive great joy from working with my hands, as a designer I enjoy witnessing the fruition of my design into the physical form. Material informs my design, rather than coercing them to fit a design, their true nature is the starting point for deciding their use. I often find re-using found materials and spaces as an inspiration. The process of design build is a fluid one rather than the traditional stages of design followed by construction. This process allows for the possibility of change and exploration throughout the process.
